Alaska Federal Judge Denies
Motion To Review Allocation
Of Valdez Punitive Damages
ANCHORAGE, Alaska - U.S. Judge H. Russell Holland of the District of Alaska said Nov. 10 he does not have jurisdiction over the punitive damages award in the Exxon Valdez spill litigation because the Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals has not lifted a stay over a mandate to award $507 million in punitive damages to punitive class members pending a determination on interest (In re: Exxon Valdez, No. 89-95, D. Alaska). From Mealey's Emerging Toxic Torts
